Teeth Whitening Vs Veneers: Which is the Right Choice For You?

Teeth Whitening and porcelain veneers are two of the most common ways people choose to improve their smiles. These treatments can make a significant difference but which option is the best fit for you? This depends on a few factors:

Teeth Whitening Treatment

This applies to individuals who have aligned, straight teeth, with no gaps. If you simply want a brighter smile, whitening treatment will work wonders. There are two ways you can go about this: in-office treatment or the at-home system.

When you come to our Practice, we place a bleaching solution on your teeth, which goes through an activation process. This single session can leave your teeth looking several shades whiter. With the at-home system, we will give you custom fitted trays to wear over your teeth along with the bleaching solution and instructions on how to use it. Over the course of a few days, you will place the bleaching solution in your tray and wear them for several minutes. This method takes more session to see results, however.

For patients that experience sensitivity during this process, we recommend using sensitivity toothpaste and a fluoride mouth rinse.

Veneers

Veneers are custom made to resemble a thin shell of porcelain, which is then moulded over your natural teeth.

This is the ideal solution for patients who have discolored, crooked or chipped teeth. The simple process involves our dentist slightly trimming your natural tooth in order to make way for the veneer to be fitted on top, smoothening out your smile.

If you take care of your veneers, it could last longer than ten years! Routine oral hygiene habits and regular checkups with our dentist will help your veneers last for as long as possible. Schedule an appointment at Wyndham Dental and we’ll help you decide which options would give you the best possible results!
