Restorative Dentistry

What is restorative dentistry?

If you have missing, misaligned, stained, cracked or even damaged teeth, restorative dentistry may be the perfect solution to treat these issues and restore your smile! Whether it’s just a single, problematic tooth or full mouth rehabilitation, our restorations can help uplift your confidence with results that look and feel quite similar to your natural smile. We’ll cover more of the restorative dental treatments we offer at Wyndham Dental in the sections to come. Once you come in for your consultation, we’ll be able to determine which solution is the best fit for your smile after assessing your case.

Restore your smile with the best dental solutions

What does Restorative dentistry cover?

Dental Fillings

Dental fillings are used to replace natural tooth structure that is damaged, decayed or broken. Dental fillings can help restore your tooth, so it looks and functions at its best again. The material used for your dental fillings will depend on where the problematic tooth lies, how your smile is aligned and the size of the filling needed.

One of the most popular types of dental fillings is composite resin. Composite resin is used to fix both front and back teeth that are broken or decayed, as it is a tooth-coloured, white filling material that blends well with your smile. Composite fillings are glued to the surface of your teeth in a straightforward process called bonding as opposed to other dental work where existing tooth structure needs to be removed for the restoration to be placed on top. This means more of your natural tooth structure is preserved when using composite fillings.

The longevity of your filling will depend on how well you take care of it. Cleaning between your teeth and brushing well each day will help reduce the risk of decay-causing bacteria accumulating. Over time, however, you will need to replace your filling if it changes colour, wears out or becomes cracked. If worn out, this can affect the effectiveness of dental fillings in protecting your tooth structure and functionality.

Dental Implants

Missing gaps in your smile or damaged, unsalvageable teeth can be a source of insecurity and also affect your oral health. Dental implants are a reliable tooth replacement solution we offer to help boost your confidence and improve your wellbeing. A dental implant is a titanium or ceramic post that is inserted into your jawbone to mimic the root of your tooth. Once successfully placed into your bone, your prosthetic tooth (or teeth) will be joined to the implant using a connecting abutment.

This is a great tooth replacement option because your jawbone responds well to dental implants. Implants keep your jawbone stimulated, preventing bone deterioration, and can be a long-term treatment with a great success rate. Unlike loose-fitting dentures that move about uncomfortably in your mouth, dental implants are a more secure and comfortable tooth replacement option.

At Wyndham Dental, we offer different implant restorations that cater to your unique needs. Our dentists will help you decide the best option depending on how many missing teeth you have and your individual oral health:

  1. Single Dental Implants: If you have a few missing teeth, single dental implants may be the best tooth replacement option for you
  2. All on 4 Implants: This is a full arch replacement of all your teeth using 4 strategically placed dental implants.
  3. Implant-Supported Dentures: Your dentures are made more secure and comfortable by being adjoined to dental implants.

Dentures

Dentures are a removable set of artificial teeth designed to look like your natural teeth. This is the ideal solution for patients who find dental implants to be out of their budget or lack the amount of healthy bone needed to successfully place the implant.
After a consultation with one of our experienced dentists at Wyndham Dental, we will take impressions of your mouth in order to design custom-fitted dentures in our laboratory. While we offer immediate dentures on the same day, your conventional dentures can take up to 3 weeks to be fabricated.

Crowns & Bridges

Ceramic or porcelain crowns are placed on top of your natural tooth in order to protect it from further damage and restore functionality to your tooth. This can be a good solution if you have a damaged, natural tooth that you’re looking to preserve without extracting. We take great care to make sure that your prosthetic crown follows the natural contours and shape of your teeth while being carefully matched to the exact shade of your smile. A bridge is a prosthetic tooth that replaces a missing gap in your smile while being anchored to the adjacent teeth.
